Path Weaver is a boutique production house specialising in interactive narrative design and making refreshingly different games.

We’re based in Te Whanganui a Tara (Wellington), in Aotearoa. We explore newfangled and oldfangled storytelling, we make narrative experiences, we do research, and we play!

Our Current Projects

The Fading Legend

Board Game

The Fading Legend is a table-top game with a rich story, and pre-made characters that players pull from a ‘deck’. Mixing elements from traditional table-top RPGs (such as Dungeons & Dragons) with the accessibility of a board game (such as Cluedo), The Fading Legend can be played by anyone with an imagination and a love of story (and secrets)!

Red Thread

Interactive Fiction Game

Red Thread is an in-development interactive fiction game where you play as a young woman trying to understand her strange powers while escaping from shadowy figures which hunt her. Play chapter one today!

The Dunes

Video Game

The Dunes is an in-progress game title being developed by Path Weaver. The game is an exploration of fantasy, betrayal, GIANT ROBOTS, found family, and how our lives are shaped both by us and by our environments. The game had its genesis as a research project — using interactive storytelling to create empathy towards unfamiliar ways of life, and has developed into its own adventure. With EXPLOSIONS and MAGIC.

Fuse

Novel

Fuse is an in-development book series about a young girl ripped out of her life and into a dark world where a criminal organisation kidnaps and trains unnaturally 'gifted' individuals for hire.

Our People

MOANA MORAN — DIRECTOR, NARRATIVE AND GAME DESIGN LEAD

Moana is the Director of Path Weaver. We’re a small studio so Moana does a bit of everything. Game design? Check. Narrative design? Check. Regretting building 18 unique classes for a tabletop RPG? Triple-check!

Moana has a Masters degree focusing on the ways that games use interactive narrative to make an emotional impact on players, and they use that to build games which ensnare the hearts of gamers. Moana started out as a writer, and now is running our busy studio, designing games, building worlds, and spends a lot of time staring at spreadsheets of class abilities. Moana loves all types of games, (so long as they have a story,) and is excited to be sharing our work with players soon! Pronouns: they/them or she/her. <3

TOVER MORAN — CONCEPT DESIGN + ART DIRECTION

Tover is an all-around creative power-house, developing visuals and designing creative concepts for games.

Tover is often found 3D sculpting in VR and forgetting how to touch objects in real life. When not making art for Path Weaver, they make beautiful and weird objets d’art in the form of 3D printed jewellery and interesting trinkets. (Go check out their Insta) Pronouns: they/them.

HADASSAH GRACE — SENIOR WRITER

Hadassah is an incredible writer who takes on the big issues with a keen eye and a devilish wit. Author of poetry book How to Take off Your Clothes’, Hadassah specialises in evocative writing which thrills the senses. Hadassah loves to write for sci-fi and fantasy, and approaches narrative as way for us all to learn more about ourselves and society. Pronouns: she/her.
